You know very well without Technology mobile phones or any thing else in the
world is not even possible. Advancements in technology is still a dream for us.Technology makes our life easier or you can say, it changes our way
of thinking.Our approach towards life is quite differnt because of the technology. Now-a-days almost everthing is related to technology.
I visited Jaipur, the Pink city of Rajasthan, a few days back and heard about
AU Bank Jaipur Marathon.It's a successfull running sport event in the history of Rajasthan since 2010.Runners participate from
all over the world. Curiousity towards the technology lead me towards the role of technology in Running Sports Event.
Running is, in many ways, the simplest of sports. It doesn't truly require any equipment other than what you're born
with -heart,lungs, legs and feet. But technology still makes a big impact on race organizers when the marathon TIMING CHIP was
introduced in the 1990s. Yes Friends, Timing chip, many of you are still unaware of this word but it plays a main tech support to make any running events transparent.
Without wasting much time, Let me introduce  you to TIMING CHIP.

WHAT IS TIMING CHIP?
TIMING CHIP or RFID CHIP(Radio-frequency identification) is a device which is designed to make the organizers able to track runners from the second
they crossed the start line to when they reached the point, to halfway through the event and all the important points for a running event or
The actual amount of time it takes a runner to go from the starting line of a race to the finish line.

TIMING CHIP systems require that athletes wear a small, lightweight chip. The chip can be attached on your -
1. Shoes
2. Ankel bracelet
3. Bib no. (B-TAG)


             

HOW ITS WORK ? 

TIMING INDIA(service provider of Timing chip) is a company which works for AU BANK JAIPUR MARATHON.

After a discussion & research on Timing India, I got to know that TIMING CHIP works using RFID(Radio-frequency identification) technology. 

They use IPICOs patented dual frequency technology which survives in environments where other timing systems struggle. 

WHAT IS TIMING MAT AND HOW ITS WORK?

The most important is ELECTRONIC MAT or CHIP READER. MATs are placed on the ground at points where we need

to record the athlete. This is usually at the start and at the finish. As the chip is passed over the mat, the mat then powers 

the chip long enough for the reader to read the chip’s id. Each mat is connected to a reader. As an athlete passes over the mat

the reader reads the chips ID and the exact time at which it was read. 

HOW IT PROVIDE  TECH SUPPORT IN AU BANK JAIPUR MARATHON ?

AU BANK JAIPUR MARATHON is the first running sports event in history of JAIPUR. It gives a esteemed platform to the

runners for showing his/her ability. This time AU BANK JAIPUR MARATHON is coming with its 10th Edition,

scheduled on 3 FEB, 2019.

In 2010, AU BANK JAIPUR MARATHON was introdued in Jaipur. In 2011, they started using 

Timing chip which was attached with the runners bib no. It was a disposable, waterproof, lightweight timing chip. 

DOES AND DON'T?

1. The bib number visible on the runner's chest.

2. Do not fold or crumple your bib no. or B-tag.

3. Use a pin for each corner of the bib number, do not pierce the tag.

4. Do not remove the foam spacer.

5. Attach the bib horizontally to your chest Not on your Back

6. Always keep the bib number visible.

7. Do not remove or cover the bib with anything including jacket.

8. Do not seperate or remove the 'Bib Tag' from the Bib. 

9. Always remember that the timing mat must see your Bib Tag when you are crossing it. 

10.You can keep the bib with you as a souvenir.

So this made me very clear about TIMING CHIP and TIMING MAT. I hope it'll also help you a lot in terms of technology used in running events.

One has to understand How importantly Technology is for anything.

It play a vital role in all running events to make succesfull and transparent.
